For the Seventh consecutive year, the annual Swahili Fashion Week& Awardswill take place at Hotel Sea Cliff from the 5th to 7th December 2014 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Swahili Fashion Week 2014 will collectively bring together 24 designers from within Tanzania and beyond to showcase their collection, predicting trend for the East African market for year 2015.

“Swahili Fashion week is aimed at reaching out to the public to emphasize and promote talents in the fashion industry. It’s about valuing our own designers and building brands by taking them to an international level. It’s the Platform for designers from Swahili speaking countries to showcase their creativity” Stated Washington Benbella, Swahili Fashion Week Manager.

Being the 7th year, this year’s Emerging Designers Competition, 9 finalist will create design with a theme called “7” and one winner shall be selected during the competition to be held on 5th December. The Fashion week shall feature a shopping festival throughout the three days which will give all fashion and accessories designers a chance to showcase their work to the public. The fashion week will end with the awards ceremony celebrating the achievements in the fashion industry in Tanzania and East Africa as a region.

“We urge the public to support the design industry and proudly wear MADE IN AFRICA, especially Tanzania. The local talents need to be nurtured to evolve them into synonymously globally recognised Brand names.
