Model hopefuls get a glance in Little Rock Fashion Week at casting

Nearly 300 aspiring models arrived excited and ready to show off their runway walks for the annual Little Rock Fashion Week Model Search. The event held on May 2nd and May 3rd at the La Quinta Inn and Suites Downtown Conference Center, 617 S. Broadway St. in downtown Little Rock, hosted models of all ages, genders and ethnicities.

“I am very excited and I really hope that I get a spot because it seems like a great event, said 22 year-old, Lawrence Blake Hannon of Little Rock, Ark. “I am new to the fashion business but I am excited and I really hope that I can be a part of it.” One of the best things about the annual Model Search is that it allows first-time hopeful models to boost up their level of confidence and get exposure with leaders of the modeling industry. “I came today for experience and I have big dreams for modeling.” Lawrence stated. “I want to do fashion print and I’d like to do a little runway but this was my first time actually walking in front of people. I was nervous the whole time but it was exciting and I love it as well as the culture.”

Upon arrival, models were expected to fill out applications, take photos, get measured, and be ready to take direction before showing off their runway walks in front of the judges. When asked what she thought would make the judges pick her, 7 year old Shae McCain Justice of Little Rock, Ark. said, “Well I kind of move my hips when I walk and on America’s Next Top Model, a lot of people did that and the people who did that probably stayed the longest.” Confidence and attitude are what the judges were looking for in each model. Some people auditioned to try something new while others came with experience to advance in the fashion industry.

“I have never tried modeling before but I always tell people that they should go out and explore new things and step outside of their comfort zone so I figured I should do the same thing. Practice what you preach, right?” said 25 year-old, Judi Kanu of Little Rock, Ark.
