For her twentieth anniversary show, Marisol Deluna pulled out all of the stops and took over the National Arts Club in Gramercy Park. The collection started off very sporty with shorts and a bandeau top, but quickly switched to summer chic with the second look of a summer dress paired with a handbag.
Medallion prints dominated the aesthetic of the collection and could be seen on everything from swimwear to cocktail dresses. Like many designers this Fashion Week, blue has proven to be the warmest color for the designer, ironically speaking so that is. Yellow, which has also been a trending color this season, was a major part of the color palette.
Deluna practically took us around the rainbow as her color palette also included green, orange, red and purple. While the overall collection could be described as swimwear and resort chic, the one thing the designer should have nixed is the chunky knit collars that were a contrast to the cocktail dresses. They lacked the proper elements of certain and didn't elevate her bright colorful designers, though they were only few and far between.
Overall, she managed to keep her wide range of pieces cohesive, and didn't dare shy away from bold colors and patterns. It's no easy feat to give that much variation and still remain cohesive.
